Output Options

Before renaming, you choose what Filera does with the files. The output mode selector is in the footer of the right panel.

Replace files in place

The default mode. Filera renames each file where it sits. The original filename is replaced with the new filename in the same directory.

Use this when: You want to rename files directly and don't need to keep the originals.

No output directory is required for this mode.

Copy files to new directory

Filera copies each file to a destination directory with the new filename. The originals are left completely untouched in their original location.

Use this when: You want to create renamed copies while preserving the originals as a backup.

When you select this mode, Filera prompts you to choose an output directory. You can also click Choose Output Directory in the footer to change it at any time.

Move files to new directory

Filera moves each file to a destination directory with the new filename. The files are removed from their original location.

Use this when: You want to rename and reorganize files into a new folder in one step.

When you select this mode, Filera prompts you to choose an output directory.

Choosing an output directory

When Copy or Move mode is selected, the Choose Output Directory button becomes active. Click it to open a folder picker. The chosen directory is shown next to the button.

All renamed files from all source directories are placed flat into this single output directory.
